Riga is a very attractive city with a picturesque Old Town and a newer area which includes many beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. There are many nice parks and green spaces. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants and prices are reasonable. As well as Latvian and Russian, English is widely spoken. Public transport - buses and trams - is very efficient and inexpensive. Walking around is easy though many areas in the Old Town are cobbled and might prove difficult for some. Riga is a very photogenic city.
Riga is a very photogenic city. The buildings are gorgeous and there are some great surprises when you explore on your on. I never take an organized tour. Plenty of restaurants. I cooked in most of my meals. But the food in the city is very good. Walk the Riga Canal! Always beautiful no matter what time of year. Just walking around you find the most amazing things, such as a free cello recital at St Peter's Cathedral. Incredible food at such amazing prices. People are just lovely. So easy to walk around, scooter or cycle.

Loved walking around the old town, the 'quiet centre', central market. We didn't plan our visits very well because all museums are closed on Monday so we didn't get to see as many as we had hoped. We took the train out to Jurmala (beach) which was lovely but we were blessed with great weather. Learn to say 'hello' and 'thank you' in Latvia. It goes a long way. Latvians are very polite and we found Riga to be extremely clean. Oh, great coffee too!AAnonymousUnited Kingdom

This was a pleasant and welcomed surprise after travelling for a week around Latvia. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and there was a smart TV with access to YouTube movies. The hotel wasn't easy to find on Google maps, but once you're there it's in a great location near the old town, restaurants and shops. It's also near the river with a short walk to the National library. Bus number 22 from the airport stops near the hotel.
